Treatment for Meningitis and Encephalitis
Meningitis and Encephalitis
Meningitis and encephalitis are inflammatory diseases. Meningitis causes inflammation in the membranes around your brain (meninges) and spinal cord. Encephalitis causes inflammation of the brain. A virus or bacterial infection can cause either. If both the meninges and brain are inflamed, we call this meningoencephalitis.
